How stress and anxiety affect us
Stress is incredibly common and is often just an accepted part of life for many people. As well as being unpleasant in itself, it often leads to back and neck problems, stomach issues, sleeping problems or just generally feeling unhappy or unable to cope with life.
This can often lead to the desire to avoid certain situations or perhaps pushing yourself to be in these situations but feeling full of dread and anxiety. You may well be building up anxiety about a situation days or weeks in advance but feel unable to change the way you think about it.
What REALLY causes Anxiety
Put simply, it's our thinking - even though we may be totally unaware of our thoughts. Negative, stressful thoughts can become 'normalised' quickly so that we are unaware of having them. When we lack the belief that we can handle a certain situation, we then try to mentally prepare for it - however, this generally involves imaging the worst case scenario. We can mis-use our imagination to overestimate the 'danger', otherwise known as 'catastrophic' thinking - resulting in an increase in anxiety.
Your anxiety can be eliminated as long as your thoughts about particular situations are realistic and accurate. This involves building the self belief that you have the skills to cope with challenging situations in life. The good news is that even severe or long-term anxiety can be effectively overcome in just six sessions of the Thrive Programme®.

What is The Thrive Programme?
It is an easy-to-follow yet extremely effective psychological training programme to overcome mental health problems and learn to thrive. You will learn how to significantly improve your thoughts, emotions and beliefs so you can feel back in control and symptom-free.
You will develop robust mental health, high, stable self-esteem and self-confidence and be able to make the most of life whilst knowing you can cope when it gets tough.
How does it work?
Over 6 weekly, one-to-one sessions, I will teach how all you need in order to reach your goals. The sessions can be done either in person in my offices or via video conferencing such as Skype or Zoom.
