Treatment for OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) with Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy

Help for OCD at the Ruislip Hypnotherapy Clinic

OCD is a distressing anxiety disorder most commonly characterised by a person's obsessive, distressing, and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions. Listed amongst the top 10 most debilitating illnesses by the World Health Organisation in terms of loss of income and decreased quality of life, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is thought to affect 2-3% of the UK population.

OCD sufferers are aware that such thoughts and behavior are not rational but feel bound to comply with them to fend off feelings of panic or dread. Because sufferers are consciously aware of this irrationality but feel helpless to push it away, untreated OCD is often regarded as one of the most vexing and frustrating of the major anxiety disorders

Just a little message to thank you for everything Cara, its been so good find such a fantastic therapy and coupled with a fantastic person who doesn't make you feel judged whilst you are judging yourself! I really do feel great and very happy about the future now.
Sammy, 31, treated for (sexual) intrusive thoughts.

Intrusive thoughts and obsessive rituals

OCD can take many forms, but, in general, sufferers experience repetitive, unwelcome and intrusive thoughts, images, impulses and doubts which they find hard to ignore. These thoughts form the obsessional part of 'Obsessive-Compulsive' and they usually (but not always) cause the person to perform repetitive compulsions in a vain attempt to relieve themselves of the obsessions and neutralise the fear. Some sufferers will have the obsessions but no physical outward compulsions - a form of OCD often called 'Pure O' .

Common obsessions include contamination and germs, causing harm to oneself or to others, upsetting sexual, violent or blasphemous thoughts, the ordering or arrangement of objects, and worries about throwing things away.

Sufferers try to fight these thoughts with mental or physical rituals, the compulsions, which involve repeatedly performing actions such as hand washing, cleaning, checking, counting, hoarding or partaking in endless rumination. Avoidance of feared situations is also common; however, this often results in further worrying and preoccupation with the obsessional thoughts.

Just to say once again thank you so much for all your help, I am doing really well and life could not be better. Challenging limiting beliefs really work, for me just knowing that I am in control of my thoughts has empowered me to deal and have control about having anxieties about harming my child. I used to live on the edge asking myself why I was having these thoughts and hence giving meaning to them, now I know I am in control and I know they have no meaning to me...I would recommend anyone.

Valerie, 32, treated for intrusive thoughts

Most sufferers know that their thoughts and behaviour are irrational and senseless, but feel incapable of stopping them. This has a significant impact on their confidence and self-esteem and as a result, their careers, relationships and lifestyles.

Compulsions

...or compulsive acts can be defined as repetitious, purposeful actions in which the individual feels compelled to engage according to their own rules or in a stereotyped manner. Typically, the individual experiences a sense of resistance to the act but this is overridden by the strong, subjective drive to perform the action. Most often the principal aim behind the compulsive act is to generate temporary relief from the anxiety caused by a preceding 'obsession'.

Treatment using Hypnoanalysis

All of the above are SYMPTOMS. They are symptoms of an inner anxiety inside of us but beyond our control. Hypno-analysis, a very special type of hypnotherapy,it is one of the best methods in the world for treating emotional, psychological or anxiety-related problems. It is a uniquely successful therapy which allows the client to resolve the very root cause of their problem, helping them to change their lives signifcantly in a short space of time. Analytical therapy is used to discover the the cause of the psychological problems. When the anxiety is gone, so too will be the symptoms of OCD

Changing Limiting Beliefs Treatment for OCD

Discover how to get back control over your thoughts, instead of feeling that your thoughts are controlling you. People suffering from OCD generally have a certain style of thinking that maintains and escalates their symptoms, including feeling powerless and feeling out of control. I can teach you how to feel completely in control of your thoughts and feelings in just a few enlightening sessions.

This treatment does not involve Hypnosis, it is an empowering and liberating psychological training program.
