Treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome / IBS at the Ruislip Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy Clinic

Serving the areas of Eastcote, Hillingdon, Harrow, Pinner, Northwood and Uxbridge, Stanmore, Edgware and London.

IBS is now one of the most common problems of the digestive system: it is estimated that up to one in five people in the UK have occasional symptoms. It causes pain in the abdomen and an altered bowel habit. Although IBS poses no serious threat to health, it can have an adverse effect on a person's quality of life.

Due to the pain, discomfort and embarrassment that are often associated with IBS, some people also experience feelings of anxiety and depression and they may be reluctant to leave their home for fear of the symptoms appearing.

I just wanted to let you know that my IBS symptoms have pretty much gone now, following my course of therapy with you. Its now well under control and I have not had to go back to the continuous course of medication that I had previously been on for over two years. I am convinced that the treatment you provided has done the trick - thanks for all your patience!
Steve, 52, treated for IBS

There are different types of IBS, depending on your main symptom. It is known by a variety of other names, including spastic colon, spastic colitis, mucous colitis, nervous diarrhoea, nervous colon and nervous bowel.

IBS is twice as common in women as it is in men. The condition normally develops in people who are between 20 and 30 years of age, but it can affect people of any age.

Symptoms include the following:

• Pain - The most common symptom of IBS is pain or discomfort in the abdomen. The pain may be mild to severe, and may be made either better or worse by opening the bowels, passing wind or eating.

• Change in bowel habits - You may find that your bowel habit alternates between constipation and diarrhoea. Afterwards, you may feel that your bowels haven't been completely emptied.

• Passing excess wind,

• Feeling sick

• The passing of mucus from your back passage

• Indigestion.

• Bloating of the abdomen

• Experiencing an urgent need to go to the toilet, which can result in incontinence if a toilet is not nearby,

How stress causes and affects IBS

How you think and feel can have an important effect on your body. Psychological factors play a big role in triggering IBS and symptoms are almost always worse when you are under stress. When you are feeling stressed or depressed your body undergoes changes and these changes can affect how your digestive system works, making the symptoms of IBS worse.

Treating IBS using Hypnoanalysis

I understand that it can be difficult to discuss the symptoms of IBS and to seek help for IBS, but if you would like to rid yourself of IBS, hypnoanalysis, in my opinion is the best treatment available - I have successfully treated many sufferers of IBS by removing the anxiety causing the symptoms.

The mind and the body are inextricably linked. Your emotional state often has a direct result on how your body functions. Whereas other treatments focus on trying to control and reduce the symptoms of IBS, hypnoanalysis gets rid of the root cause of the problem - bottled up emotions.

Emotions that are bottled up cause us stress and symptoms simply because they are pushed away, so we do not have access to them to resolve them. Hypnoanalysis releases these bottled up emotions permanently. The emotion once released will take with it its symptoms - leaving you feeling happier, calmer and symptom-free.
